WebMay 8, 2011 · Smoking brakes is indicative of the pad dragging on the rotor for an extended time. First thought that came to mind was frozen caliper slide pin. It's a known issue on the 05-07 brakes. I'd ask if they checked the slide pins of the caliper in question. The E brake is a possibility as well as it could be stuck.
